“ENERGY”

Aesthetic investigation, a part of environment photography, can portray the intimate essence of places, buildings, the urban areas of town and cities, from time to time made the subject of speculative investigation. Silvano Piccinini grasps the colour palette of cities and scenes through the use of the camera, like a painter with his brush, shooting his images as the sun goes down, as the advancing night reveals its lights and its mystery. Through these lights and original visual paths, Silvano intends best portraying the throbs and passions of the human soul. Piccinini, with his night shots, flashing and rich in energy, portrays an urban and suburban cosmos distilled of incessant conveyances between beings, through the technologies which are the instruments of the current way of conceiving the essence of modern living. Everything is carried on and understood through cables, lines and waves that take their strength from the thousand instruments of modern living: computers, mobile phones, lasers, sensors, photocells and satellites … . A new world that pervades us and escapes the normal visual rules detected by the eye and mind. This is the original heart of the world, that which finds its raison d’etre in energy. Our artist expresses things new, the modern world, with the use of vibrating optical perturbations which investigate the very sense of our existence. Piccinini’s photos do not have a descriptive value as such, but an expressive one. Only a few well-selected shots find their way to the press, those which the artist feels to be effective explication of the energy expressed in contemporary life.   The quest extends beyond the wall of common conscience and must not in fact restrict itself to explicating the value of aesthetic sentiment, but must guide us through magnetism, through radius pulsations, to reinterpret the innovative importance of a technological world that dominates us, but which at the same time conveys us towards new goals at the speed of light. Piccinini tells us, through his images, that we cannot restrict ourselves to the mere vision of the external incarnate which civilisation produces but that we must realise and become aware of its intimate essence. By sealing an idea, he channels shapes and architectures and portrays everything with a right sense of equilibrium grasped during movement and speed. We could say that Piccinini impersonates the what is to him congenial role of translator and skilful interpreter of light vibrations and perturbations, to reveal the incessant quiver of life, reinterpreted in the new technological paths, deduced from that which we could define as existential dust, which is at its essence.
